Ingredients

The seasoning

  • 3 tablespoons paprika
  • 1 tablespoon kosher salt
  • 2 teaspoons pepper
  • ½ teaspoon cayenne pepper
  • 1 teaspoon garlic powder
  • ½ teaspoon thyme (dried)

The sauce

  • ½ cup honey
  • ¼ cup red wine vinegar
  • 3 tablespoons olive oil

The main ingredients

  • 1 whole onion (peeled and cut in half)
  • 3-5 pounds pork shoulder (cut in half)

Instructions

  1. Mix the first six ingredients in a bowl to create a seasoning mixture.
  2. Add honey, vinegar, and olive oil to the mixture and stir to form a paste.
  3. Place the onion halves in the bottom of the slow cooker.
  4. Put the pork pieces on top of the onion and cover with the honey paste.
  5. Set the slow cooker to low and cook for 7 to 8 hours until the pork is tender.
  6. Shred the pork and serve warm with desired toppings.
