Ingredients

The pork

  • 4 pounds pork shoulder
  • 1 tablespoon vegetable oil
  • 2 cups chicken broth
  • cups BBQ sauce

The seasoning

  • ¼ cup BBQ rub
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Instructions

  1. Heat the oil in a large pot over medium-high heat.
  2. Season the pork with salt and pepper.
  3. Brown the pork roast for about 3-4 minutes per side.
  4. Coat the pork in the BBQ rub.
  5. Place the pork in a slow cooker.
  6. Pour the chicken broth into the slow cooker.
  7. Cover and cook for 8-10 hours on low, until the pork is very tender.
  8. Drain off the liquid and shred the pork with two forks.
  9. Stir in the BBQ sauce and serve.
