Ingredients

The artichokes

  • 1-4 artichokes Artichokes
  • 1 wedge Lemon

The steaming liquid

  • 1 ½ cups Water
  • ½ lemon Lemon, sliced (optional)
  • 2 cloves Garlic, chopped (optional)
  • 2 small Bay Leaves (optional)
  • 1 tsp Salt
  • ½ sweet onion Sweet Onion, sliced (optional)
  • 1 sprig Fresh Rosemary (optional)

Instructions

  1. Prepare the artichokes by removing small outer leaves and cutting the stem, then cut the top off to expose the inside.
  2. Rinse the artichokes and pat dry, then rub lemon on the cut surface to prevent browning.
  3. Add water to the inner liner of the Instant Pot and add optional aromatics.
  4. Place the trivet into the pot and add the artichokes stem side up.
  5. Close the lid, set the steam release knob to sealing, and select the cook time based on the size of the artichokes.
  6. After cooking, do a quick release of the steam or let it naturally release for softer artichokes.
  7. Check if the artichokes are done by sliding a knife into the bottom.
