yam, peeled and cut into medium pieces

fish (tilapia, snapper, or chicken), cleaned and cut into medium pieces

Instructions
- Blend garlic, tomatoes, parsley, basil, onion, and ginger in a food processor or blender.
- In a large pot, combine the blended mixture with white pepper, smoked paprika, bouillon powder, green onions, and about 3 cups of water, then bring to a boil.
- If using chicken, add it at this point and let it simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Gently add yams, fish, carrots, and enough water to cover the ingredients, then bring to a boil and let simmer for about 10 minutes.
- Adjust seasonings as needed, then remove from heat and serve warm.
