Apple Strudel

The glaze

Instructions
- Make the strudel dough by mixing flour, salt, and sugar in a bowl, then adding eggs, oil, and water until smooth. Cover and let rest for 30 minutes.
- Prepare the filling by simmering raisins, rum, and apple juice in a saucepan for about 10 minutes, then drain and cool.
- Toast pecans in a skillet until golden, then combine apples, lemon juice, sugar, orange zest, cinnamon, pecans, and the raisin mixture in a bowl.
- Preheat oven to 425°F and prepare a baking sheet with parchment paper and melted butter.
- Roll out the dough on a floured towel, place half of the apple mixture along one edge, and roll tightly. Repeat with the second piece of dough.
- Place both strudels seam-side down on the baking sheet and brush with the egg mixture.
- Bake for 25 to 30 minutes until golden brown, then cool completely.
- Make the glaze by whisking milk and powdered sugar until thick, then drizzle over the cooled strudel before serving.
