Ingredients

The steak

  • 1 ¼ pounds sirloin steak
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil

The garlic butter

  • 4 tablespoons butter
  • ½ teaspoon garlic
  • 1 tablespoon minced fresh herbs

Instructions

  1. Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel.
  2. Heat a heavy skillet over medium-high heat and add olive oil.
  3. Season both sides of the steaks with salt and pepper.
  4. Cook the steaks in a single layer for 4-5 minutes per side until browned.
  5. Use a thermometer to check for desired doneness, ideally medium at 145°F.
  6. While the steak cooks, mix butter, garlic, herbs, salt, and pepper in a bowl.
  7. Let the steaks rest for at least 5 minutes off the heat.
  8. Top each steak with a dollop of garlic butter, slice, and serve.
