Sirloin Tip Steak

Ingredients

The steak

  • 4 oz Sirloin tip steaks (1/2 inch thick)

The marinade

  • 1 recipe Steak marinade

For cooking

  • 2 tbsp Olive oil
  • 1 recipe Compound butter (optional)

Instructions

  1. Pat the steaks dry with a paper towel.
  2. Pound the steaks with a meat mallet to tenderize them.
  3. Make the steak marinade in a small bowl by whisking the ingredients together.
  4. Add the steaks to a large zip lock bag and marinate overnight or up to 24 hours.
  5. Remove the steaks from the fridge 30 minutes before cooking.
  6. In a large cast iron skillet, heat the olive oil over medium-high heat.
  7. Add the sirloin tip steaks and cook for 1-1 ½ minutes per side for rare, 1 ½-2 minutes per side for medium rare, 2-2 ½ minutes per side for medium, 2 ½-3 minutes per side for medium well, or 3-4 minutes per side for well done.
  8. Transfer the steaks to a plate and let rest for 5 minutes before slicing.
  9. Serve with compound butter if desired.
