Instructions
- Combine 4 cups of water and 1 ½ cups of dried hibiscus flowers in a medium saucepan.
- Bring the mixture to a boil, then reduce the heat and simmer for about 15 minutes until the flowers soften.
- Strain the mixture through a fine-mesh sieve to remove the flowers, pressing down to extract as much liquid as possible.
- Stir in the sugar until it dissolves.
- Transfer the liquid to a large pitcher and mix in the remaining 8 cups of cold water.
- Serve over ice with lime wedges if desired.
