Marinara Dipping Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 3 cloves garlic, peeled and smashed
  • ½ teaspoon dried basil
  • ½ teaspoon dried oregano
  • 15 ounces tomato sauce
  • to taste none salt

Instructions

  1. Heat olive oil in a small saucepan over medium-high heat until shimmering.
  2. Add garlic cloves and sauté until browned, stirring occasionally for about 3 to 4 minutes.
  3. Remove garlic and discard it.
  4. Stir in dried basil and oregano until fragrant, about 30 seconds.
  5. Reduce heat to medium, stir in tomato sauce and salt to taste, and simmer for about 10 minutes until flavors have blended.
  6. Keep warm over low heat until serving or cool completely and store covered in the refrigerator.
