Za'atar Roasted Cauliflower Steaks

Ingredients

The cauliflower steaks

  • 1 medium head cauliflower

The seasoning mixture

  • 1 teaspoon za'atar
  • 1 teaspoon fresh lime juice
  • 1 tablespoon olive oil
  • 2 teaspoons olive oil
  • ½ teaspoon sesame seeds
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • ½ teaspoon ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400 degrees F.
  2. Remove the greens and stem from the cauliflower and cut 1-inch thick steaks.
  3. Mix za'atar, lime juice, olive oil, sesame seeds, salt, and pepper in a small bowl.
  4. Brush the mixture on both sides of the cauliflower steaks, reserving some for later.
  5. Heat a pan over medium-high heat with 2 teaspoons of olive oil and sear each side of the steaks until golden brown, about 2-3 minutes per side.
  6. Transfer the steaks to a baking sheet and roast for 15 minutes until tender but firm.
  7. Sprinkle with more sesame seeds, lime juice, salt, and za'atar before serving.
