Turmeric Rice

Ingredients

The rice and vegetables

  • 1 cup basmati rice (or jasmine, cooked according to package)
  • ½ cup broccoli (chopped into small pieces)
  • cups water
  • ¾ cup spinach (chopped)

The flavoring and fats

  • tablespoons coconut oil (or ghee)
  • 1 tablespoon turmeric powder (more to taste)
  • ¼ teaspoon ground black pepper
  • sea salt to taste
  • 4 pieces cardamom seeds (whole, dried)

Optional ingredients

  • a handful raisins (optional)
  • 1 cup organic chicken (cooked, chopped, optional)

Instructions

  1. Cook the rice according to the package instructions.
  2. Add the broccoli to the rice when there are about 5 minutes left of cooking.
  3. Once the rice is done, add in all other ingredients and combine well.
