Instructions
- Prepare the dough by scalding the milk and mixing in butter, sugar, and salt; let it cool.
- Add yeast to the milk mixture and combine with flour in a mixer until a dough forms.
- Knead the dough for 5-10 minutes, then let it rise for 2 hours.
- Punch down the dough, knead briefly, and let it rise again for 2 hours.
- For the sauce, sauté onion and garlic in olive oil, then add crushed red pepper and fennel.
- Stir in tomato sauce, diced tomatoes, and tomato paste; season and simmer for 30 minutes.
- Grease a deep-dish pizza pan and roll out the dough to fit, placing some sauce and cheese at the bottom.
- Layer sauce, toppings, and more cheese, finishing with a layer of sauce and cheese on top.
- Bake at 425°F for 45 minutes or until bubbly.
