Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 180°C (350°F) and prepare a springform cake pan.
- Melt butter in a non-stick pan, add brown sugar, stir until combined, and pour into the cake pan.
- Arrange pear slices in a single layer over the syrup in the pan.
- In a mixing bowl, cream together butter and sugar until fluffy, then add vanilla and egg yolks.
- In a separate bowl, beat egg whites with cream of tartar until fluffy.
- Gradually mix milk, flour, baking powder, and salt into the butter mixture, then fold in the egg whites.
- Pour the batter over the pears and smooth the top.
- Bake for 40-45 minutes or until a skewer comes out clean.
- Let the cake cool for 5 minutes before inverting onto a plate and cooling completely before slicing.
