Ingredients

The filling

  • 2 tablespoons packed brown sugar
  • 1 tablespoon cornstarch
  • ½ teaspoon ground cinnamon
  • teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon lemon juice
  • 4 medium pears, peeled, cored and sliced

The crust

  • 1 pre-made refrigerated pie crust dough

The topping

  • 1 tablespoon light butter
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water
  • 2 teaspoons granulated sugar

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F.
  2. Roll the pie crust dough into a 12-inch circle on parchment paper and transfer it to a baking sheet.
  3. In a bowl, mix brown sugar, cornstarch, cinnamon, and salt, then add lemon juice and stir.
  4. Add sliced pears to the mixture and coat them well.
  5. Arrange the pears on the dough, leaving a 2-inch border.
  6. Fold the edges of the dough over the filling and dot with butter.
  7. Prepare an egg wash by beating the egg with water and brush it over the crust.
  8. Sprinkle granulated sugar over the crust and pears.
  9. Bake for 35-40 minutes until the crust is golden and the pears are bubbly.
  10. Cool for at least 20 minutes before slicing.
