Ingredients

The filling

  • 2 units Apples, peeled, cored, sliced
  • 2 Tbsp Flour
  • ½ tsp Cinnamon
  • tsp Nutmeg
  • cup Brown Sugar
  • ½ tsp Vanilla
  • 3 tsp Lemon Juice
  • ¼ cup Pecans, chopped (optional)

The crust

  • 1 9" Pie Crust, room temp. (store bought is a great shortcut)

Egg wash

  • 1 unit Egg
  • 2 tsp Water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
  2. In a mixing bowl, combine the apples, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, vanilla, lemon juice, and optional pecans.
  3. Spread the pie crust on the parchment-lined baking sheet and mound the apple filling in the center, leaving a 2 to 3-inch margin around the edge.
  4. Fold the crust over the filling, turning the pan as you fold each section to create a rustic edge.
  5. Brush the crust with the egg wash and bake for 30 to 40 minutes until the crust is browned and the apples are tender.
