Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 425°F and line a baking sheet with parchment paper.
- In a mixing bowl, combine the apples, flour, cinnamon, nutmeg, brown sugar, vanilla, lemon juice, and optional pecans.
- Spread the pie crust on the parchment-lined baking sheet and mound the apple filling in the center, leaving a 2 to 3-inch margin around the edge.
- Fold the crust over the filling, turning the pan as you fold each section to create a rustic edge.
- Brush the crust with the egg wash and bake for 30 to 40 minutes until the crust is browned and the apples are tender.
