Instructions
- Mix flour and cold butter in a bowl until it resembles coarse sand.
- Dissolve salt in ice-cold water and mix into the flour mixture to form a dough.
- Wrap the dough in plastic and refrigerate for 30-45 minutes.
- Core and slice apples, then mix with brown sugar, cinnamon, ginger, cornstarch, vanilla, salt, and lemon juice.
- Preheat oven to 400F and place a baking sheet inside to heat.
- Roll out the dough to about 13-15 inches in diameter and place on parchment paper.
- Arrange the sliced apples in circles on the dough, pouring excess juices over them.
- Fold the edges of the dough over the filling.
- Prepare the egg wash and brush it over the crust, then sprinkle with sugar.
- Bake for 43-45 minutes until golden, then cool slightly before serving.
