Easy Apple Galette

Instructions
- Prepare the crust by mixing flour, sugar, and salt, then cutting in the butter until crumbly.
- Add ice-cold water and mix until the dough forms, then shape into a disc and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Make the filling by combining sliced apples, brown sugar, flour, lemon juice, cinnamon, and nutmeg in a bowl.
- Roll out the chilled dough into a 12-inch circle on a floured surface and place it on a baking sheet.
- Arrange the apple filling in the center, leaving a 2–3 inch border, then fold the edges of the dough over the filling.
- Brush the edges with egg wash and sprinkle with coarse sugar if desired.
- Chill the shaped galette for 15–20 minutes while preheating the oven to 400°F (204°C).
- Bake for about 35–36 minutes until the filling is bubbly and the crust is golden brown.
- Allow to cool for 10 minutes before slicing and serving, optionally with vanilla ice cream and salted caramel.
