Thanksgiving Yams

Ingredients

The yams

  • 3-4 pieces yams, peeled

The flavorings

  • 2 tbsp pure maple syrup
  • 2 tbsp grassfed butter or ghee (or coconut oil for dairy free)
  • ¼ tsp nutmeg
  • ¼ tsp cloves
  • ¼ tsp cinnamon
  • 1 piece orange, zest and juice

Instructions

  1. Peel and cut the yams into cubes.
  2. Boil the yams until soft, about 10-15 minutes, then drain.
  3. Return the drained yams to the pot and mash them, keeping some texture.
  4. Add the remaining ingredients and mix until combined.
  5. Serve immediately or place in an oven-safe dish to reheat later.
