Instructions
- Heat the oil in a medium saucepan over medium heat.
- In a bowl, whisk together the flour, baking powder, sugar, and salt.
- Incorporate the butter into the flour mixture until it resembles a sandy texture.
- Gradually add the warm water to the mixture, stirring to form a dough.
- Knead the dough for 2-4 minutes until combined, then let it rest covered for at least 10 minutes.
- Test the oil temperature by placing a small piece of dough in it; it should bubble when ready.
- Form the dough into golf-ball-sized balls and slightly flatten them.
- Fry the dumplings in the hot oil for 6-8 minutes, flipping halfway, until golden brown.
- Drain the cooked dumplings on paper towels and serve warm.
