Ingredients

The broccoli

  • 1 large head broccoli, cut into florets

The seasoning and oils

  • 2 tbsp extra-virgin olive oil
  • ¼ cup slivered almonds
  • 2 tbsp sesame seeds
  • zest of 1 lemon
  • 2 tbsp fresh ginger, grated
  • tbsp toasted sesame oil
  • 1 tsp fish sauce
  • ½ tsp chili pepper flakes
  • ½ tsp Himalayan salt
  • ½ tsp freshly ground black pepper

Instructions

  1. Steam the broccoli in a basket over salted boiling water until it turns vibrant green, about 2-3 minutes.
  2. Plunge the broccoli into icy cold water and stir until completely chilled.
  3. Transfer the cold broccoli to a colander and let it drain until dry.
  4. Heat olive oil in a large skillet over medium heat; add almonds and sesame seeds, cooking until golden and fragrant, about 1 minute.
  5. Lower the heat to medium-low and add broccoli, lemon zest, ginger, sesame oil, fish sauce, pepper flakes, salt, and pepper, cooking until heated through, about 3-5 minutes.
