Instructions
- Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 12-cup muffin tin.
- In a bowl, whisk together the dry ingredients: flour, granulated sugar, brown sugar, baking powder, baking soda, salt, cinnamon, and nutmeg.
- In another bowl, whisk together the wet ingredients: egg, vanilla, milk (or buttermilk), and oil (or melted butter).
- Combine the wet ingredients with the dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
- Scoop the batter into the muffin tin, filling each cup about 2/3 full.
- Bake for 15-18 minutes until the tops spring back when touched.
- Let the muffins cool slightly before transferring them to a cooling rack.
- For the topping, mix sugar and cinnamon in a bowl, dip the tops of the muffins in melted butter, and roll them in the cinnamon-sugar mixture.
