Ingredients

The muffins

  • 1 ¼ cups apple sauce
  • 1 ¼ cups white sugar

  • 2 large eggs

The streusel topping

  • cup all-purpose flour
  • ¼ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons ground cinnamon
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F.
  2. In a medium bowl, whisk together the apple sauce, white sugar, neutral oil, eggs, and vanilla.
  3. In a large bowl, whisk together the flour, baking soda, baking powder, cinnamon, nutmeg, allspice, and kosher salt.
  4. Combine the wet and dry ingredients, mixing until just combined.
  5. Cover the bowl with plastic wrap and let the batter rest for 20 minutes.
  6. For the streusel topping, mix together the flour, sugar, cinnamon, and salt, then add the butter and mix until crumbly.
  7. Divide the muffin batter among the muffin tin cavities and top with the streusel.
  8. Bake for 20 to 22 minutes, until a skewer comes out clean.
