Ingredients

The meat and sauce

  • ½ lb Ground Beef (90%-93% lean)
  • ½ lb Ground Italian Sausage
  • 1 each Onion, diced
  • 2 teaspoons Italian Seasoning
  • teaspoon Garlic Powder
  • ½ teaspoon Salt
  • ½ teaspoon Pepper
  • 3 cups Chicken Broth (low sodium)
  • 12 oz Medium Pasta Shells
  • 1 24 oz jar Marinara Sauce

To finish

  • 1 cup Grated Parmesan Cheese
  • cups Shredded Mozzarella Cheese

Instructions

  1. Set the Instant Pot to Sauté and cook the meat and onion until the meat is no longer pink.
  2. Add Italian seasoning, garlic powder, salt, and pepper, and stir.
  3. Pour in the chicken broth and stir.
  4. Add the pasta shells in an even layer and press down into the liquid without stirring.
  5. Pour the marinara sauce over the pasta and do not stir.
  6. Seal the lid and set the steam release knob to Sealing. Cancel the Sauté setting.
  7. Select Pressure Cook and set the timer for 5 minutes.
  8. After cooking, let the pot sit for 3 minutes for natural release, then perform a controlled quick release.
  9. Remove the lid and stir the contents. Add parmesan and mozzarella cheese, and stir until melted.
  10. Serve hot, optionally with crusty bread.
