Caramel Macchiato

cold strong black coffee

Instructions
- Melt butter in a small pot over medium heat.
- Add heavy cream, brown sugar, and salt; bring to a low simmer.
- Cook for 4 minutes, stirring occasionally, until thickened.
- Remove from heat, stir in vanilla, and transfer caramel to an airtight container.
- In a small pot, combine 1 tablespoon of caramel, sugar, and ¼ cup of coffee; heat until dissolved.
- Whisk in heavy cream and remove from heat.
- Fill a 16-ounce cup with ice and pour in the remaining coffee.
- Add the caramel mixture and stir well.
- Top with whipped cream and drizzle with more caramel if desired.
