Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 375°F.
- 2. Cream together powdered sugar and butter until light and fluffy.
- 3. Add the egg, almond extract, and vanilla extract, mixing until combined.
- 4. Sift together the flour, baking soda, and cream of tartar, then add to the sugar mixture and mix well.
- 5. Divide the dough into two discs, wrap in plastic wrap, and refrigerate for 15 minutes.
- 6. Roll out the chilled dough to ⅛ to ¼ inch thick and cut into desired shapes.
- 7. Place the cookies on a greased or silpat-covered baking sheet and bake for 7-8 minutes.
- 8. Remove from the oven and cool on the baking sheet, then frost with royal icing.
