Ingredients

The main ingredients

  • 12 ounces sausage
  • 1 medium to large head cabbage
  • 1 medium onion
  • 2 teaspoons garlic
  • 2 teaspoons paprika
  • 1-2 strips bacon
  • 2 medium tomatoes
  • ½ medium green bell pepper

The seasonings

  • 1 teaspoon Creole seasoning
  • 1-2 teaspoons Worcestershire sauce
  • 1 teaspoon white pepper
  • 1 teaspoon pepper flakes
  • to taste salt

The cooking fat

  • 2 tablespoons butter or cooking oil

Instructions

  1. 1. Slice or chop the cabbage and set aside.
  2. 2. In a large skillet over medium heat, sauté the bacon until browned, then set aside.
  3. 3. Add the sausage to the skillet and brown for about 2 minutes.
  4. 4. Add butter, onions, garlic, paprika, and Creole seasoning to the pan, stirring frequently.
  5. 5. Add the tomatoes and green bell pepper, cooking for another 5 minutes.
  6. 6. Add the cabbage, Worcestershire sauce, and white pepper, then cover and simmer for 10-14 minutes.
  7. 7. Taste and adjust seasoning with Creole seasoning, salt, and pepper flakes as needed.
  8. 8. Serve hot.
