Ingredients

The main ingredients

  • ½ large sausage links or bratwurst, uncooked
  • 8 pieces bacon, diced
  • 1 onion, diced
  • 1 bell pepper, diced
  • 4 cloves garlic, minced
  • 8 cups shredded cabbage

The sauce

  • 2 tbsp apple cider vinegar
  • 2 tbsp spicy brown mustard
  • 1 tsp smoked paprika
  • ½ tsp sea salt
  • ½ tsp ground pepper

Instructions

  1. Boil enough water to submerge the sausages in a medium pot for 15 minutes.
  2. While the sausages are boiling, prepare the bacon, onion, bell pepper, garlic, and cabbage.
  3. Cook the bacon in a pan over medium heat until crispy, about 7-8 minutes, then set aside.
  4. Remove the sausages from the water, pat them dry, and brown them in the same pan for 3-4 minutes per side.
  5. Add the onion, bell pepper, and garlic to the pan, cooking until softened, about 4-5 minutes.
  6. Stir in the shredded cabbage and cook until wilted, about 3-4 minutes.
  7. Add the mustard, apple cider vinegar, paprika, salt, and pepper, stirring to combine.
  8. Return the sausages and bacon to the pan, mix everything, and serve.
