Ingredients

The cookie dough

  • cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 cup unsalted butter, softened (2 sticks)
  • 1 cup packed brown sugar
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 3 teaspoons white miso paste (optional but highly recommended)
  • 2 large eggs
  • 1½-2 cups semi-sweet chocolate chips
  • 1 cup creamy peanut butter
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla
  • 1 pinch salt
  • 1-2 cups pretzels, lightly crushed (optional)

For serving

  • to taste flaky sea salt (optional)

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 10-12 inch skillet or 4-6 smaller skillets.
  2. In a small bowl, combine the flour, baking soda, and salt.
  3. In a large bowl, beat the softened butter, granulated sugar, brown sugar, vanilla, and miso until creamy.
  4. Add the eggs and mix well, then gradually beat in the flour mixture.
  5. Stir in the chocolate chips and pretzels.
  6. In a separate bowl, mix together the peanut butter, vanilla, and a pinch of salt.
  7. Spread half of the cookie dough into the prepared skillet, dollop the peanut butter mixture on top, and then place the remaining cookie dough over it.
  8. Bake for 20-25 minutes for a large skillet or 12-15 minutes for smaller skillets, ensuring not to overbake.
  9. Let cool for 3-5 minutes before serving, optionally with ice cream and a sprinkle of flaky sea salt.
