Ingredients

The cookie

  • 10 Tbsp. unsalted butter, softened, divided
  • ½ cup granulated sugar
  • ½ cup packed light brown sugar
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 tsp. vanilla extract
  • cups all-purpose flour
  • ½ tsp. baking soda
  • ½ tsp. kosher salt
  • 1 cup semi-sweet chocolate chips

For serving

  • to taste vanilla ice cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and grease a 9-inch cast-iron skillet with 2 tablespoons of butter.
  2. In a stand mixer, beat the remaining 8 tablespoons of butter with the sugars until light and fluffy, then add the egg and vanilla, mixing until combined.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking soda, and salt together.
  4. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients in the mixer, mixing on low speed, then add the chocolate chips and mix until just combined.
  5. Press the cookie dough into the prepared skillet and bake for 20 to 25 minutes until the edges are crisp and the cookie is golden.
  6. Remove from the oven and serve warm topped with vanilla ice cream.
