Homemade Alfredo Sauce

Ingredients

  • 6-8 tablespoons butter
  • 2 teaspoons minced garlic
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme
  • 1 teaspoon Italian seasoning
  • 1 ½ cups heavy whipping cream
  • ½ cup whole milk or half and half
  • 2-3 ounces soft cream cheese
  • 1-1 ½ cups freshly grated parmesan cheese
  • to taste salt and freshly ground pepper

Instructions

  1. 1. Heat a skillet or saucepan on medium heat and add butter.
  2. 2. Add minced garlic, thyme, and Italian seasoning, and sauté until the garlic is soft and fragrant.
  3. 3. Reduce heat to medium-low and whisk in the cream and milk.
  4. 4. Add cream cheese while whisking until blended.
  5. 5. Stir in the parmesan cheese and whisk until smooth.
  6. 6. Reduce heat to a simmer and season with salt and pepper.
  7. 7. Simmer for about 3-4 minutes until the sauce thickens.
  8. 8. Turn off the heat and toss with pasta or store in the fridge until ready to use.
