Ingredients

Pizza Dough

  • 2 ¼ tsp active dry yeast
  • 2 tsp granulated sugar
  • 1 ½ cups warm water
  • 3 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 ½ tsp salt
  • 1 tsp white vinegar
  • 3 ½ - 4 cups bread flour

Pizza Sauce

  • 2 (8 oz) cans tomato sauce
  • ¼ cup tomato paste
  • 1 ½ Tbsp extra virgin olive oil
  • 1 ½ tsp honey
  • 2 tsp chopped fresh oregano
  • 2 tsp chopped fresh basil
  • ¼ tsp dried thyme
  • 1 clove garlic
  • to taste salt and freshly ground black pepper

Toppings

  • 1 Tbsp olive oil
  • 1 clove garlic
  • 2 cups shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ cup finely shredded parmesan cheese
  • 20 slices pepperoni
  • 2 Tbsp fresh oregano
  • to taste red pepper flakes

Instructions

  1. Prepare the pizza dough by mixing yeast, sugar, and warm water, then let it rest.
  2. Add olive oil, salt, and vinegar to the yeast mixture and combine with flour, kneading until smooth.
  3. Cover the dough and let it rise in a warm place until doubled in size.
  4. Combine all pizza sauce ingredients in a bowl and let rest for flavor melding.
  5. Preheat the oven to 450°F and prepare a pizza stone.
  6. Punch down the dough, divide it, and roll out one portion on a floured surface.
  7. Brush the dough with a mixture of olive oil and garlic, then spread the pizza sauce.
  8. Top with mozzarella, parmesan, and pepperoni slices.
  9. Bake in the preheated oven for 12-15 minutes until the crust is golden.
  10. Sprinkle with oregano and optional red pepper flakes before serving.
