Fish Fillet in Cream Sauce

Ingredients

The fish

  • 1-1½ pound red snapper fillet

The sauce

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil or canola oil
  • ½ medium onion, diced
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic
  • ¼ cup cream
  • ¼ cup milk
  • ¼ cup tomato sauce
  • ½ teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon white pepper or black pepper
  • 1 teaspoon thyme
  • 1-2 tablespoons chopped parsley
  • ½-1 cup broth or water
  • to taste salt

Instructions

  1. Rinse the fish fillet and season with salt and pepper.
  2. Heat oil in a skillet over medium heat and brown the fish for 2 minutes on each side.
  3. Remove the fish and set aside, draining excess oil but leaving about 2 tablespoons.
  4. Add diced onions and minced garlic to the skillet, cooking for about 5 minutes.
  5. Stir in cream, milk, tomato sauce, paprika, white pepper, thyme, parsley, and broth, and season with salt.
  6. Bring the mixture to a boil, then let it simmer for 7-8 minutes.
  7. Add the fish back to the skillet and adjust the sauce thickness with more broth or water if needed.
  8. Simmer for another minute or two, then remove from heat and serve warm.
