Instructions
- Whisk together the flour, baking powder, salt, nutmeg, and pumpkin pie spice in a bowl and set aside.
- In a stand mixer, mix the sugar and shortening for 1 minute, then add the egg yolks and mix for another minute.
- Gradually add the flour mixture, sour cream, and pumpkin in thirds, mixing until just combined.
- Transfer the dough to a bowl, cover with plastic wrap, and refrigerate for at least 45 minutes.
- Prepare the glaze by whisking together all ingredients except for the milk, then slowly add hot milk until smooth.
- Heat oil in a pot to 325 degrees Fahrenheit.
- Roll out the dough on a floured surface and cut out doughnuts.
- Fry the doughnuts in the hot oil until golden brown, then transfer to a paper towel-lined tray.
- Dip the hot doughnuts in the pumpkin glaze and allow to cool on a wire rack before serving.
