Ingredients

The donuts

  • 4 tablespoons unsalted butter
  • 1 tablespoon avocado or canola oil
  • ¾ cup granulated sugar
  • 2 large eggs
  • 2 teaspoons vanilla extract
  • ½ cup whole milk
  • ½ cup pumpkin puree
  • cup sour cream
  • 2 ¼ cups all-purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons baking powder
  • ½ teaspoon baking soda
  • 1 teaspoon pumpkin pie spice
  • teaspoon ground nutmeg
  • ¾ teaspoon salt

The glaze

  • 1 ½ cups powdered sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ¼ cup whole milk

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 350°F and prepare a donut pan with oil.
  2. In a large bowl, whisk together the melted butter, oil, sugar, eggs, vanilla, milk, pumpkin puree, and sour cream.
  3. In a separate bowl, mix the flour, baking powder, baking soda, pumpkin pie spice, nutmeg, and salt.
  4. Combine the dry ingredients with the wet ingredients and stir until just mixed.
  5. Fill the donut pans with the batter.
  6. Bake for 13 to 16 minutes for standard donuts, or until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Let the donuts cool in the pan for 10 minutes, then transfer to a cooling rack for 20 minutes.
  8. For the glaze, whisk together powdered sugar and salt, then mix in maple syrup, vanilla, and milk.
  9. Dip the cooled donuts in the glaze and serve immediately.
