Homemade Spaghetti Sauce

Instructions
- 1. Heat a large skillet or stock pot over medium-high heat and add olive oil and sausage, browning the sausage on both sides.
- 2. Add diced onion and chopped garlic to the pot, cooking until the onions are translucent.
- 3. Incorporate crushed tomatoes into the pot, rinsing the cans with a little water to add to the sauce.
- 4. Add chopped basil, sea salt, black pepper, and sugar (if using) to the sauce.
- 5. Bring the sauce to a boil, then reduce heat to simmer and cook for at least 2 hours, ideally 4-6 hours for richer flavor.
