Grilled Baby Back Ribs

Ingredients

The ribs

  • 1 rack baby back ribs
  • 1 tablespoon liquid smoke
  • 1 cup BBQ Sauce

The BBQ rub

  • 2 teaspoons brown sugar or sweetener
  • 1 teaspoon chili powder
  • 1 teaspoon smoked paprika
  • ½ teaspoon onion powder
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • to taste salt
  • to taste pepper

Instructions

  1. Pat the ribs dry and remove the membrane from the back.
  2. Drizzle liquid smoke onto both sides of the ribs.
  3. Sprinkle the BBQ rub on both sides and press it into the meat.
  4. If using only a dry rub, let the ribs rest in the refrigerator overnight; if using BBQ sauce, let them rest for 2 hours.
  5. Preheat the grill to 250 degrees.
  6. Place the ribs on the grill, meat side up, away from direct heat.
  7. Grill the ribs for 90 minutes to 2 hours, checking for doneness with a meat thermometer.
  8. Brush BBQ sauce on both sides of the ribs and cook for an additional 5 minutes.
  9. Remove the ribs from the grill and let them cool before serving.
