Ingredients

The dough

  • 2 teaspoons Platinum Yeast from Red Star instant yeast
  • 1 Tablespoon granulated sugar
  • ¾ cup whole milk
  • 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1 large egg
  • 2 and ⅓ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 teaspoon salt

Cream Cheese Filling

  • 8 ounces full-fat brick cream cheese, softened
  • 3 Tablespoons unsalted butter, softened
  • 1–2 teaspoons Italian seasoning
  • ½ teaspoon garlic powder
  • ¾ cup shredded mozzarella cheese
  • ¼ teaspoon salt

Everything Bagel Topping

  • 1 Tablespoon poppy seeds
  • 1 Tablespoon sesame seeds
  • 1 and ½ teaspoons dried minced onion
  • 1 and ½ teaspoons dried garlic flakes
  • 1 teaspoon coarse sea salt or flaky sea salt
  • 2 Tablespoons unsalted butter, melted

Instructions

  1. Make the dough by mixing yeast and sugar, then adding warm milk and letting it sit until frothy.
  2. Add butter, egg, flour, and salt, then beat and knead the dough until soft.
  3. Let the dough rise in a greased bowl until doubled in size, about 60-90 minutes.
  4. Prepare the cream cheese filling by mixing all filling ingredients together until combined.
  5. Make the topping by combining all topping ingredients in a small bowl.
  6. Punch down the dough, roll it out, and spread the cream cheese filling on top.
  7. Cut the dough into circles, fold them, and arrange in a greased loaf pan.
  8. Let the assembled bread rise until puffy, about 45 minutes.
  9. Preheat the oven and brush the dough with melted butter, then sprinkle with everything bagel seasoning.
  10. Bake until golden brown, about 40-45 minutes, then cool slightly before serving.
