Ingredients

The filling

  • 8 ounces whipped cream cheese
  • ½ cup mayonnaise
  • 3 scallions sliced
  • 1 large egg
  • 1 tablespoon water

The wrappers

  • 24 pieces wonton wrappers

For serving

  • to taste pepper jelly

Instructions

  1. Combine cream cheese, mayonnaise, and scallions in a medium bowl.
  2. Whisk together egg and water in a small bowl to create an egg wash.
  3. Arrange 5 to 10 wonton wrappers on a clean surface and brush edges with egg wash.
  4. Place 1 rounded teaspoon of filling in the center of each wrapper and fold to seal.
  5. Heat oil in a deep fryer or pot to 375 degrees.
  6. Fry wontons in small batches until golden brown, about 15 to 20 seconds, then drain on paper towels.
  7. Alternatively, bake at 350 degrees in muffin cups for 18 to 20 minutes until golden.
