Instructions
- Cut the bread into smaller pieces and process in a food processor until crumbly.
- Add the whisked egg and pulse to combine, then add the softened butter or coconut oil and blend until mixed.
- If the mixture is too thick, add small amounts of water until it forms a dough.
- Wrap the dough in plastic wrap and refrigerate for at least 1 hour.
- Roll out the chilled dough on a lightly floured surface between sheets of plastic or parchment paper to about ⅛ to ¼ inch thick.
- Transfer the rolled dough to an 8-inch pie pan, pressing it into the sides and trimming excess dough.
- Flute the edges and poke holes in the center with a fork.
- Bake according to your pie recipe instructions, either par-baking or baking completely.
