Ingredients

  • 8 oz smoked sausage
  • 2 Tbsp cooking oil
  • 10 oz frozen seasoning mix (celery, onion, bell pepper, parsley)
  • 1 cup long grain white rice
  • cups chicken broth (made with bouillon)
  • ½ tsp Creole seasoning
  • to taste hot sauce

Instructions

  1. Slice the smoked sausage into ½-inch thick rounds.
  2. Heat the cooking oil in a deep skillet over medium heat.
  3. Add the sliced sausage and cook until browned.
  4. Add the frozen seasoning mix and cook until heated through.
  5. Stir in the rice, Creole seasoning, and chicken broth until combined.
  6. Cover the skillet and bring the broth to a boil.
  7. Once boiling, reduce heat to medium-low and simmer for 15 minutes without lifting the lid.
  8. Turn off the heat and let it rest for 5 minutes with the lid on.
  9. Fluff the rice and adjust seasoning with more Creole seasoning and hot sauce to taste.
