Ingredients

  • 1 ½ cups all-purpose flour
  • 1 cup sugar
  • 1 teaspoon baking soda
  • ½ teaspoon salt
  • 1 teaspoon white vinegar
  • 5 tablespoons canola oil
  • 1 ½ teaspoons vanilla extract
  • 1 cup water

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 180C/350F and line a square baking pan with parchment paper.
  2. In a large mixing bowl, combine the dry ingredients.
  3. Create three wells in the dry mixture and add vinegar, vanilla extract, and oil in each well respectively.
  4. Pour water over the mixture and mix until fully combined.
  5. Transfer the batter to the lined baking pan.
  6. Bake for 25-30 minutes until a toothpick comes out clean.
  7. Allow the cake to cool in the pan for 10 minutes before transferring it to a wire rack.
