Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 1 12-ounce bag fresh cranberries
  • ¼ cup light brown sugar
  • ¼ cup white sugar
  • ¼ teaspoon kosher salt
  • ½ cup water
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • 3 to 4 tablespoons orange juice
  • 1 teaspoon vanilla extract
  • ½ teaspoon freshly grated ginger
  • 1 stick cinnamon

Instructions

  1. Wash the cranberries and add them to a saucepan.
  2. Zest and juice the orange, then add both to the saucepan.
  3. Add the brown sugar, white sugar, salt, water, vanilla extract, ginger, and cinnamon stick.
  4. Place the saucepan over medium-low heat and cook until it begins to bubble and the cranberries soften, about 10 minutes.
  5. Pop and agitate the cranberries to create a mix of whole berries and sauce.
  6. Remove from heat and let cool to room temperature before serving or refrigerating.
