Cranberry Sauce

Ingredients

  • 12 ounce cranberries
  • ¾ cup water
  • ¼ cup fresh orange juice
  • ¾ cup brown sugar
  • 1 teaspoon orange zest
  • ½ teaspoon pure vanilla extract

Instructions

  1. Set aside ½ cup of cranberries for later.
  2. Combine remaining cranberries, water, orange juice, and brown sugar in a saucepan.
  3. Cook over medium heat, stirring occasionally, until it simmers.
  4. Reduce heat and continue cooking until the cranberries burst and the sauce thickens, about 15 minutes.
  5. Remove from heat and stir in reserved cranberries, orange zest, and vanilla extract.
  6. Let the sauce cool; it will thicken further as it cools.
