Cheesy Potato Gratin

Ingredients

  • 1 large russet potato
  • ¼ unit onion
  • ¼ teaspoon salt
  • teaspoon pepper
  • 1 heaping teaspoon all-purpose flour
  • 1 tablespoon cold butter
  • ½ cup shredded Cheddar cheese
  • cup milk
  • cup heavy cream

Instructions

  1. Preheat the oven to 400°F and grease the baking dish.
  2. Layer half of the sliced potatoes in the dish and add the sliced onions.
  3. Sprinkle with half of the salt and pepper, all of the flour, and half of the butter and cheese.
  4. Add the remaining potatoes and top with the remaining salt, pepper, butter, and cheese.
  5. Pour the milk and cream over the top.
  6. Place a sheet of foil or a baking sheet on the bottom rack to catch any overflow.
  7. Bake for 40 to 60 minutes until the potatoes are fork tender.
  8. Cool for five minutes before serving.
