Mashed Potato Gratin

The creamy mixture

half and half

cream cheese, cubed

gruyere cheese, shredded

Instructions
- 1. Preheat the oven to 450°F.
- 2. Butter a 2-quart baking dish.
- 3. Place the potatoes, rosemary, garlic, and salt in a large pot and cover with cold water by 1 inch.
- 4. Bring to a boil, then reduce to a simmer and cook for 15 to 18 minutes until the potatoes are tender.
- 5. Drain and discard the rosemary.
- 6. Press the potatoes and garlic through a potato ricer or mash with a potato masher.
- 7. Stir in ½ cup of the butter until melted, then add the half-and-half gradually until the desired consistency is reached.
- 8. Stir in the cream cheese until melted, then add the gruyere cheese and chives, seasoning with salt and pepper.
- 9. Transfer the mixture to the prepared baking dish and dot with the remaining ¼ cup of butter.
- 10. Bake for 25 minutes.
