Instructions
- Combine salt, garlic powder, onion powder, paprika, dry mustard, chili powder, and black pepper in a bowl and whisk to combine.
- Pound the cube steaks to ½ inch thickness using a meat mallet, then rub the seasoning blend on both sides.
- Dredge the seasoned steaks in flour, shaking off excess.
- Heat olive oil in a skillet over medium-high heat and sear the steaks for 2-3 minutes on each side.
- Remove the steaks and tent with foil to keep warm.
- In the same skillet, reduce heat to medium, add butter, and sauté sliced onions for 15-18 minutes until caramelized.
- Lower the heat and stir in flour, cooking for 2-3 minutes.
- Add beef broth, Worcestershire sauce, mustard, and seasonings to the onions, mixing to create gravy and simmer until thickened.
- Return the steaks to the pan, spoon gravy over them, and simmer uncovered for 5 minutes until cooked through.
- Serve with mashed potatoes and green beans.
