Cabernet and Gorgonzola Burger Sliders

Ingredients

The patties

  • 16 oz organic ground beef
  • 2 tablespoons butter
  • 1 medium red onion
  • ½ cup good Cabernet Sauvignon
  • 1 package Italian Gorgonzola Cheese
  • ½ cup spicy mayo
  • to taste SYD Hot Rub or Salt & Pepper

The assembly

  • to taste mixed greens (butter lettuce, arugula, or iceberg lettuce)
  • as needed hamburger buns

Instructions

  1. Divide the ground beef into three portions and shape into patties.
  2. Refrigerate the patties covered until ready to cook.
  3. Sauté sliced onions in butter, season, and cook until desired tenderness.
  4. Add Cabernet to onions and simmer until reduced.
  5. Preheat the grill to 450°F and oil the grates.
  6. Cook the patties on the grill for about 5 minutes per side until charred.
  7. Add crumbled Gorgonzola cheese to the patties in the last minute of cooking.
  8. Toast the burger buns on the grill.
  9. Assemble the sliders with spicy mayo, greens, patties, and onions.
