Ingredients

The peppers

  • 4–6 cups shishito peppers

The oil and seasoning

  • 2–3 teaspoons peanut oil or high heat oil
  • 5-finger pinch salt
  • 4 cloves garlic, thinly sliced
  • 1 teaspoon sesame oil
  • 1 teaspoon soy sauce (optional)
  • 1–3 teaspoons Furikake seasoning or alternatives

Instructions

  1. Toss the Shishito peppers with oil and salt to coat.
  2. Heat a large skillet over medium heat and add the peppers, blistering them while tossing every 3 minutes until they soften.
  3. Remove the peppers and crisp the garlic in the same pan, adding more oil if needed until golden.
  4. Add the peppers back to the pan, drizzle with sesame oil and soy sauce, and toss well.
  5. Serve immediately, garnished with Furikake seasoning.
