Ingredients

The green beans

  • 1 pound green beans, washed and trimmed

The boiling water

  • 4 quarts water
  • 1 tablespoon salt

Instructions

  1. Trim the stem ends of the green beans and remove any tough strings.
  2. Bring a large pot of water with salt to a boil and prepare a bowl of ice water.
  3. Add the green beans to the boiling water and cook until tender-crisp, about 3 to 5 minutes.
  4. Transfer the beans to the ice water to stop the cooking process.
  5. Once cooled, drain the beans and pat dry.
