Ingredients

The sauce

  • ¼ cup fresh lemon juice
  • 1 tablespoon maple syrup
  • 1 tablespoon soy sauce
  • 1 teaspoon fresh thyme

The vegetables

  • 16 ounces Brussels sprouts
  • ½ medium red onion
  • 1 teaspoon minced garlic

The cooking fats

  • 1 tablespoon avocado oil
  • 2 tablespoons butter

Instructions

  1. Whisk together the lemon juice, maple syrup, soy sauce, and thyme in a small bowl and set aside.
  2. Heat the avocado oil in a large skillet over medium-high heat.
  3. Add the Brussels sprouts and red onion to the skillet and cook until they begin to brown, about four minutes.
  4. Add the butter or additional oil to the pan and cook for another four minutes.
  5. Stir in the minced garlic and cook for one more minute.
  6. Add the lemon juice mixture and cook for an additional 2 to 4 minutes before serving warm.
